The Art of Brewing Chinese Tea

Brewing tea is both science and art. The correct water temperature, steeping time, and technique unlock the full flavor spectrum. Our premium selections reward proper preparation with complex, rewarding tastes that deepen with each infusion.

Water Temperature

Green teas prefer cooler water (70-80°C), while black and oolong teas thrive at 90-100°C. Proper temperature preserves delicate flavors and prevents bitterness.

Steeping Time

Green tea: 2-3 minutes. Oolong: 3-5 minutes. Black tea: 4-5 minutes. Pu-erh: first rinse, then 3-4 minutes per infusion for multiple steepings.

Tea-to-Water Ratio

Use 1 teaspoon of dried leaves per 8 oz of water as a starting point. Adjust to your preference. Gongfu brewing uses more leaves and shorter steeps for enhanced complexity.
